About Stock Spirits Group
Stock Spirits Group (Stock), with a heritage dating back to 1884 in Trieste, Italy, has evolved into a powerhouse, uniting distinguished local spirits brands from across Europe. The vision for advancing their technological capabilities led them to implement SAP S/4HANA under the guidance of Chief Information Officer Małgorzata Jaworska and in partnership with SNOK for installation and enhanced cybersecurity.
About SNOK
SNOK stands at the forefront of SAP technology and cybersecurity. The company is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions that align with and support clients’ business objectives. Challenge
As Stock Spirits Group transitioned from a modest enterprise to a European entity, it faced the escalating threat of cyberattacks, a risk compounded by its rapid growth and market expansion. “Our transformation from mostly East and Central European to a pan-European entity, especially with recent acquisitions, put us on the radar for potential cyber threats.
Ensuring robust cybersecurity for our evolving SAP landscape became a pressing concern,” Stock’s Group IT Infrastructure Manager, Jaromir Wróblewski, observed.
This expansion, which included the integration of three major companies in a single year, led to a projected increase in SAP users from 350 to potentially 700 in the next few years.
"SAP systems are crucial, yet they require significant fortification right out of the box. Our collaboration with SecurityBridge is vital in bridging these security gaps."
Jacek Bugajski, CEO and Co-owner of SNOK
Implementation
SNOK developed a comprehensive SAP security framework for Stock, predominantly based on SecurityBridge’s recommendations. This process involved an initial phase of rigorous testing of the new SAP S/4HANA security configuration in a controlled sandbox environment. This systematic approach allowed for identifying and resolving potential issues before a full-scale rollout.
As the implementation progressed, SNOK faced the challenge of integrating the new SAP S/4HANA system with Stock’s existing SAP ERP ECC environment. Despite encountering functional limitations due to outdated versions of the ERP system, SNOK successfully identified and closed several critical backdoors, enhancing the overall security posture with the new S/4HANA implementation.
Furthermore, the geographical spread of Stock’s operations added complexity to the implementation. Starting in Poland, SNOK planned a phased rollout to other key regions, including Italy and the Czech Republic. This approach allowed for localized adjustments and ensured a smooth integration across various markets.
"The presentation of SecurityBridge was a turning point. With my extensive experience in SAP, it's clear that SecurityBridge fills the critical security voids that SAP can't address alone."
Jaromir Wróblewski, Group IT Infrastructure Manager at Stock Spirits Group
The biggest challenge, however, lies in the management of security alerts. With a lean SAP team, Stock needed an efficient system to manage the volume of alerts without causing operational disruptions. “Defining the correct SAP security baselines was crucial. We needed a thorough system that did not inundate our team with false positives or unnecessary work,” Jacek Bugajski, CEO and Co-owner of SNOK explained.
“We couldn’t afford to spend resources on lowpriority alerts,” Wróblewski added. “Striking the right balance between adequate security measures and manageable alert response was key to the project’s success.”
As SAP S/4HANA goes live, Stock will leverage the SecurityBridge platform for daily operations, focusing primarily on high-priority alerts, with confidence in SecurityBridge’s categorization system to weed out lower-level issues.
Benefits
The integration of SecurityBridge will transform Stock’s approach to SAP security. The platform automates security monitoring and reporting, significantly reducing manual effort and headcount requirements. This automation enables Stock to monitor and secure its expanding SAP environment, including new company integrations.
"SecurityBridge's knowledge consolidation is a gamechanger. It equips us with streamlined, actionable insights, making our cybersecurity efforts more effective and less resource-intensive."
Jacek Bugajski, CEO and Co-owner of SNOK
In conclusion, the partnership between SNOK and SecurityBridge will fortify Stock’s SAP S/4HANA infrastructure against cyber threats, ensuring the security and integrity of their business-critical systems in an era of unrelenting cyber attacks.
