Provincie Overijssel employs approximately 1200 civil servants who ensure that the province’s policy is implemented in the provincial infrastructure and traffic management the process for issuing land permits the physical spatial domain: water, subsurface, and infrastructure.

Challenges
Regular penetration tests helped Provincie Overijssel shape awareness of cybersecurity and the need for a response process to cyberattacks, including protecting their SAP finance landscape. However, it was difficult and cumbersome for the SAP team to gain sufficient insight into the systems’ vulnerabilities on a regular basis.
SAP Security requires specialized knowledge paired with automated tools covering all SAP Security topics, both of which are limited within Provincie Overijssel’s organization. Therefore, the SAP team decided to extend the engagement with their existing Managed Service Provider (MSP), myBrand Conclusion, and integrate their Technology Enable Services for SAP Security into SAP Operations.
Solution
MyBrand Conclusion brings SAP Security expertise and is therefore familiar with various solution providers. After SecurityBridge acquired Protect4S in the fall of 2023, the initial setup for SAP patching and vulnerability management has been transitioned to the SecurityBridge Platform, including the adoption of the new enhanced SAP Security capabilities.
The new “Security & Compliance” module provides Provincie Overijssel with a roadmap to effectively use the limited resources to harden the SAP landscape further. MyBrand Conclusion supports Provincie Overijssel on demand, helping to remediate identified vulnerabilities and expedite the monthly Patch Management process.
Additionally, the SecurityBridge Threat Detection module is embedded as SIEM for SAP into the overall Provincie Overijssel SOC responsible for the entire cybersecurity posture.
