Challenges
Regular security assessments help sharpen the focus on the protection needs of SAP environments and continuously improve security levels. WITTENSTEIN also follows this approach and launched an initiative in 2023 to harden its SAP systems with greater consistency and efficiency.
The SAP team turned to its long-standing SAP Basis service provider, TakeASP AG from Würzburg, with these challenges. The goal was to implement efficient SAP Vulnerability and Patch Management across the entire SAP environment to protect business data and technical product information adequately.
Solution

The SAP team initially focused on the so-called “low-hanging fruits,” which are automatically highlighted in the SecurityBridge roadmap based on the risk-effort ratio of the vulnerabilities. At the same time, the assignment of critical authorizations was reduced, and interfaces were secured. Efficient Patch Management helps the SAP Basis team implement SAP Security Notes promptly and effectively.
