SAP Security Patch Day – August 2022

SAP security Patch day

Today, August 9, 2022, the time has come again. The SAP Security Patch Day, which takes place every second Tuesday of the month, is used by SAP SE to release relevant security updates to its customers. In parallel to the Black Hat 2022 Cyber Security Conference, the SAP Response team released 7 patches this Tuesday.

SAP Security Patches August 2022

SAP customers do not just want one like today’s SAP Security Patch Day during the summertime. Today there is only one vulnerability correction with a high severity level. The remaining six SAP Security Notes are classified with medium severity.

The majority of this month’s corrections are for specific products and not for the widely adopted flagship solutions provided by SAP. Although this probably meant that not many customers were affected, those who use the products that require a published correction should take action.

Highlights

Zooming in, we find three patches for SAP BusinessObjects – Business Intelligence Platform for the components Commentary DB (SNote 3213524), Monitoring DB (SNote 3213507), and Open Document (3210823, CVSS 8.2). It is helpful to review the SNote 2144559, which describes SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI) Maintenance Strategy & Schedule.

Also, a missing authorization check was discovered in SAP Automotive Solution and fixed with correction 2726124. It is important to note that the underlying patch was updated on today’s SAP Security Patch Day. Usually, this means that the first version of the SAP Note did not achieve the desired success. Please check whether an SAP Note has been implemented and verify the release of new versions. New SecurityBridge Patch Management customers often discover that it updated implemented patches after the installation. If this is not detected, the SAP customer feels secure, even though the correction could not take full effect.
